Csokonai Memorial Room
"According to standards of high-level intellectuality Csokonai is one of the greatest geniuses" – declared János Barta, historian of literature. The poet is also one of the most famous students of the College, whose exmatriculation continues to excite the public opinion ever since its occurence. His personality shaped the city’s cultural life for hundreds of years after his death. The exhibition of the Csokonai memorial room contains not only the busts of István Ferenczy or Miklós Izsó, or the portrait painted by József Rippl-Rónai, but all the objects that mirror his intellectual and artistical interest.
Csokonai has become a magical character in the Hungarian folk tradition. His character appears not only in the narrative genres of oral or written tradition but in the representational folk arts as well.
